The West Mill in Derby is one of the coolest venues I ever worked in as wedding photographer. This former mill and grade 1 listed building was not long ago tastefully restored and turned into wedding venue. It is spacious inside, spanning over 4 floors with plenty of natural light coming through big windows. Its industrial feel combined with vintage furniture and cool lighting makes it truly special place to get married in.
I started my day unusually - photographing groom and groomsmen getting ready. I was pleasantly surprised to find house very tidy and spacious with plenty of natural light - things cant get much better than this from technical point of view:) Atmosphere in the house was really good and I enjoyed photographing first part of the day. A bit later on I headed to the West Mill to capture bit of Michelle’s preparation and to get some shots of the venue. Interesting thing is that bridal suite is on the same floor as ceremony room, so we could actually hear guests talking from inside the suite. It did not make Michelle nervous though, as she was very laid back and enjoying this day. After short ceremony whole wedding party moved to the ground floor for the drinks reception, where magician and flair bartenders provided some extra entertainment for the guests. Later on after wedding breakfast, all the guests were off their seat with their hands in the air - thanks to singer & Dj Lee Osborne who did great job and lifted the mood to the next level. It was enjoyable day and pleasure to photograph from the beginning all the way until late night. Thanks Michelle and Mark for hiring me! Some photos from the day bellow.
